Our Jiu-Jitsu Programs

At Python Jiu-Jitsu, we recognize that students train for different reasons. Some are interested in competition and sport. Others want practical self-defense and real-world readiness.

For that reason, we offer two distinct programs:

  • Sport Jiu-Jitsu (Art)

  • Combat Jiu-Jitsu (Martial Art)

Each program has a different focus, training method, and objective. We encourage students to choose the program that best aligns with their goals.

Sport Jiu-Jitsu

The Art of Jiu-Jitsu is focused on competition-based training under established Jiu-Jitsu rulesets. This program emphasizes:

  • Points, positions, and submissions

  • One-on-one grappling in a controlled environment

  • Athletic development, conditioning, and timing

  • Preparing students for tournaments and matches

Sport Jiu-Jitsu is structured, safe, and ideal for those who enjoy training as a sport or competitive activity.

Kids Sport Jiu-Jitsu

Our kids program is sport-based and designed to be age-appropriate and safe. Children train in a positive environment that focuses on:

  • Discipline and confidence

  • Physical coordination and balance

  • Respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship

  • Basic grappling skills without strikes

Competition is optional for kids, but sport jiu-jitsu provides an excellent foundation for fitness, character development, and confidence.

Combat Jiu-Jitsu

The Martial Art of Jiu-Jitsu is trained as a fighting art, not a sport.

This program is designed for adults who want practical self-defense skills and an understanding of real-world violence dynamics. Training focuses on:

  • Control under pressure and stress

  • Defending against aggression, not just scoring points

  • Awareness of strikes, positioning, and consequences

  • Developing a mindset rooted in responsibility and restraint

Combat Jiu-Jitsu is not competition-focused. The objective is survivability and effectiveness, not medals or rankings based on rulesets.

This program is intended for students who want Jiu-Jitsu as a functional fighting system, not a game.

Choosing the Right Program

  • If your goal is competition, fitness, or structured sport training, Sport Jiu-Jitsu may be the right fit.

  • If your goal is self-defense, preparedness, and martial training, Combat Jiu-Jitsu may be the better choice.

  • Or you can do both

Both programs are taught with professionalism, discipline, and respect — but they serve different purposes.

If you’re unsure which path is right for you, we’re happy to help guide you.
